The rules of effective complaining are pretty simple:
- Only make a thoroughly educated and informed complaint. Do not complain unless you’ve considered the other side and you’re fully confident in your complaint.
- Withhold your emotion. You are dealing with real people with real feelings, and anger stokes those feelings into anger or worse. Stay calm to get results.
- Make few demands and ask a lot of questions.
- Contact the appropriate person or agency
While our University of Oregon neighbors are an important ingredient in our active and vibrant neighborhood, occasionally residents find they need outside resources to help them cope with issues of respect for people and property. Hopefully our livability resource page will help in resolving these issues.
