- Dave did a great job getting us started and now there are several other groups meeting in the neighborhood.
- Each meeting: show the video of the first 6 steps, discuss assets in each block group
- Marcia reports that by the end of the year there will have been six meetings. He is meeting with the Friends house to see if that could be a neighborhood meeting spot.
- Marcia and Carolyn went to an OSU professor’s talk about disaster preparedness. Flood is as much of a risk as earthquake. Her presentation is on her Facebook page. Marcia will send us the link and it is on the Wayne Morse Center website.
- Any news about Housing: Land Use?
- Wednesday at noon, October 23, City Council has maybe their last work session on ADUs.
- Staff is recommending getting rid of all siting and design restrictions. Carolyn and Bill are meeting with Alan Zelenka at 5:45 downtown – anyone is welcome to attend. They have a list of questions for him that Nancy helped with, such as what does “accessory” mean when you can effectively build two houses on every lot, how to mitigate parking issues, what are they planning to do about density, how to deal with no good LTD buses in the neighborhood and no parking for randomly sited ADUs and multi-units in R-1, how do you deal with gentrification, etc.
- Kari asked Bill and Carolyn that they may want to mention that they have support of the SUNA board and that we had a meeting on this topic with 50-60 very concerned neighbors.
- Are there Edison rebuilding updates?
- No updates from Kari
- Ideas for Future meetings?
- January – plan for Disaster Preparedness speaker/film clip
- Lauren sent out a few names for us to include in our meeting. She doesn’t think we should show the whole movie, but maybe the first few minutes and have someone talk about the possible things that can happen.
- Dave talking about status of our neighborhood preparedness process and providing information on how to start a block group of their own.
- Edison follow up.
- Aligned with the great shakeout on January 26.
- City of Eugene Hate/Bias information – Spring?
- January – plan for Disaster Preparedness speaker/film clip
Good of the Order and Neighborhood updates/announcements
- Agenda item for next meeting:
- How should we communicate w/neighbors? Regularly schedule email blasts rather than do the current on-demand mode…?
