Edison Elementary School was design by Architect Theodore Gerow in 1926 and was the catalyst for a spate of lot buying and building in the South University Neighborhood. Gerow himself decided that this was the best neighborhood for his own family and built this house the same year and lived in it until 1931.
At one point the owner of the house passed away with our heirs and willed the house to the Episcopal Church who used it as a Rectory for several years. It was purchased as a single family home again in 1973 from the church. C.W. Ingram was at one point an owner.
This is a fine example of the French Renaissance/Norman Farmhouse style, clad in stucco. Decorative features include steep gable center entry and pop-thru hipped dormers.
