Ongoing Feedback Needed
The response to the first University Park survey generated 400+ responses, breaking records and demonstrating the importance of this park to so many residents in SUN and beyond. Given the current context and what the Parks Department has told SUNA (see below) is it critical for neighbors to remain engaged:
- Attend a reveal of concept designs on June 27 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Hilyard Community Center.
- Respond to the next survey for preferences, which will follow the June 27th meeting. (City reps tell us this is the key way to provide feedback.)
Why is your feedback important?
Many neighbors have supported parks bonds over the years and were excited to see University Park finally on the list of parks to be updated after more than 15 years of lost service since the closure of the wading pool and over 30 years of piecemeal updates.
Meanwhile, inflation has taken a toll on the budget earmarked for our park, and staff now say they have limited funds for ongoing maintenance. Therefore, neighbors’ input and advocacy (and potentially fundraised dollars) will be necessary to get the updates we hoped to see in our popular park.
This opportunity won’t come again for decades, so please continue to speak up and show up for our park!
