Parking in SUN, July 15–24
Eugene is getting ready to welcome the world! The World Athletics Championships Oregon22 will host 40,000 visitors per day.
The City of Eugene is partnering again with the SUNA board for a proposed temporary event parking district during Oregon22, from July 15–24. The City recently mailed all SUN residents a postcard with information concerning the proposed parking district. In addition to shuttles—and in support of Oregon22 goals to reduce driving—the adoption of a temporary event parking district will help accommodate athletes, support staff, and visitors by creating additional parking resources during this celebrated global event.
What to expect:
- SUN resident permits and free guest passes will remain valid.
- All street parking signs will have temporary covers. These were locally made from recycled material in a project between SUNA and City Parking.
- Event permits will be sold for a proposed $25 daily fee.
- Fines will double to $40-$50. Towing will occur if there is a safety issue.
- 2 to 4 parking officers will enforce the district.
