Slow Down, Save Lives

New Neighborhood Speed Limits

Crash studies have documented that risk of injury and death during a collision decreases significantly between 25 MPH and 20 MPH. This is particularly true for vulnerable roadway users, such as people walking, biking, and rolling.

SUN will be one of the first neighborhoods to move to the lower speed limit.

New speed limits will be posted on the existing posts for the following streets:

E 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, Alder, Kincaid, Potter, University, Onyx, Emerald

The changes will occur in phases from Fall 2020 through 2021, with the speed limits legally going into effect on neighborhood streets when the existing speed limit signs are replaced.

’20 is Plenty’

’20 is Plenty’—a community outreach campaign to help inform the community of the speed limit change—launched in October. You can show support for transportation safety and lower speeds is by displaying a ‘20 is Plenty’ lawn sign. The lawn signs are free to community members; request a sign here.
